The European top diplomat will also inform EU foreign ministers about the situation in Venezuela, recent developments in Georgia and Burma. The two most important points in the EU Council agenda will be relations with Russia and Turkey.
Borell will first briefly present the latest developments in EU relations with Russia, following the quick adoption of sanctions against those responsible for the arrest, prosecution and condemnation of Russian opposition politician Alexei Navajo.
A ministerial debate is also expected, which will serve as an entry into the strategic debate on EU-Russia relations, scheduled for the EU summit on 25 March and 26 March. Before the European Council on March 25th and 26th, ministers will have a strategic discussion on the current state of EU-Turkey relations and will assess relations in the wider context of recent developments in the Eastern Mediterranean and other regional issues.
