After the end of the session, one of the suspects' attorneys Rade Basara has been declared.
Lawyer Tome Gashi said that during the time Ivanov was killed, Basara was not in Kosovo.
I specifically speak for my client Rade Basara. The incident has eight groundless points that did not match the timing of Ivanovic's assassination because he was in Croatia at the time. He is a Serb of Croatia. According to the prosecution, he is a member of the police investigation unit and may be involved in Ivanovic's murder. He has been standing unjustly in custody for 16 months, Gashi has said.
Furthermore Basara's defender said there is no evidence he was involved in Ivanovic's murder.
If Rada Basara's fault is that it was part of the Kosovo Police investigation unit, then it's something else because it could be any police officer in northern Mitrovica. There is no evidence that Basara is involved in the killing of Ivanovic”, he has said further.
The murder of Oliver Ivanovic on January 16th 2018 is accused of Marko Rossic, Nedelko Spasojevicq, Dragisa Markovic, Zarko Jovanovic, Silvana Arsovic and Rade Basaran.
Ivanovic, leader of the party Freedom, Democracy, Justice, was shot dead in front of his party's office in Mitrovica on 16 January 2018.
At the time of his death, he was being retriald for ordering the killing of Kosovo Albanians during the Kosovo war in 1999. He had claimed innocence.
In addition to Kosovo, Serbia's Special Prosecutor is investigating the murder of Oliver Ivanovic.
