The US was the state that backed Kosovo on its journey towards liberation by Serb paramilitary forces and declaring independence.
That was when former US President George Bush had recognised Kosovo as a state.
Speaking to reporters during a visit to Tanzania, President Bush said the new state of Kosovo is committed to having the highest standards of freedom and will be fully recognised by the US.
