Kamber writes the letter The EU and the US requires reaction after Serbia legalised hate speech against Albanians

The Albanian representative in Serbia's Parliament, Shaip Kamberi, along with Albanian National Council Chairman Ragmi Mustafa, has sent a letter to European Union and United States officials regarding the positions and legal decisions already, in the post of institutionalisation and legalisation of hate and racist language towards [...]

Frames “Shiptar”, which has an offensive racist terminology, was legalised with a court ruling in Belgrade.

Kamberi through a Facebook report said that in the letter EU officials have stressed that the Supreme Court's recent decision in Belgrade, with which Serbia's Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksandar Vulin, who was acquitted of hate speech, intolerance and discrimination against Albanians, is a dangerous precedent for minorities in Serbia and the Western Balkans.

“Indict international representatives that this decision by the Supreme Court, which does not condemn the use of the illegal and chauvinist term “iptar” is also an indication that the judiciary in Serbia is under the direct influence of government officials, not applying either the Law on the Banning of Racor and Fetar Discriminance, which sanctiones the” of inequality, hatred and intolerance based on the attribute of racial, national, religious, sexual or other <84>>

Kamberi and Mustaf believe that the European Union will not tolerate a Minister of Internal Affairs of a state aimed at membership in the European Union, to use publicly and formally, insulting and racist terms to members of national minorities.

“In the end, we stressed our assessment that by formalising and institutionalising hate speech against Albanians and minorities, the highest state representative of the Republic of Serbia, they do not positively contribute to the process of reconciliation, peace and co-existence in the Western Balkans, much less in the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, which is being facilitated by the European Union”, it is said in its announcement.
