The European Union has allocated 7m euros to support vaccine campaigns in the Western Balkans. News has been delivered by Enlargement Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi, under whom EU is in partnership with O The BSH will support the safe and effective vaccine of populations throughout the Western Balkans.
This project will help prepare the region for the expectation and effective management of COVID-19 vaccines, including those taken from COVAX and through the mechanism of sharing EU vaccines with EU Member States. This will also help improve the region's resistance to health emergencies and support it in moving towards sustainable funding for universal healthcare. The activities will include, among other things, developing and testing emergency readiness plans, training for health professionals and developing information management systems for vaccines.
Commissioner for Neighborship and Enlargement Oliver Varhely said: “with this new project to support vaccine campaigns in the Western Balkans in partnership with O BSH, the EU continues to give its commitment to supporting our partners in handling pandemic since its beginning. The project comes as part of our 70m-euro package to support vaccines for the region and to provide the necessary equipment for the” campaigns.
