In Pristina, he will meet with Vetevendosje Movement Chairman Albin Kurti, who with Vjosa Osmani, won the 14 February parliamentary elections.
The “in Kosovo will not remain the exact same anymore, because soon we will have the new Government and Prime Minister, and this government will have very strong mandate. This is a new situation. Soon I visit Pristina and Belgrade. In Kosovo, I will talk to the election winner, Albin Kurti, about our co-operation and the continuation of the” dialogue, Lajcak told Montenegro Radio Television.
The Slovak diplomat was reserved when asked about the final outcome of the agreement in Kosovo-Serbian talks. From Brussels they speak of legally binding deals without mentioning mutual recognition.
This last option was clearly mentioned in the letter US President Joe Biden sent to Belgrade for February 15th (Serbian State Day) and Pristina on February 17th for Kosovo Independence Day.
The Americas support the process and leadership that the European Union has in normalising relations between Serbia and Kosovo. People representing the new US administration are excellent connoisseurs of the region and feel responsibility for it. This is so important to us”.
The EU is expected to extend Lajcak's mandate as Special Representative for Kosovo- Serbia for another year. He came to this position on April 3, 2020.
