For headaches or teeth, many use pain pills like paracetamol.
This drug not only reduces pain but, as it has now been discovered, affects psychics.
The recommended daily dose 4,000 mg can easily be achieved by taking a larger amount of lower dose pills that do not require a prescription. But many who consume high doses of paracetamol themselves are unaware of the possible side effects and consequences.
Gerhard Müller-Schwee near the Göppingen Centre for Pialative Medicine says that paracetamol can harm the liver, which is especially dangerous in children who find it easy to pass the allowed daily dose. According to him, an overdose can lead to liver failure very quickly.
The liver is affected because harmful substances cannot be exorcated by the body, which causes an immune reaction. This leads to liver inflammation and the more cells in the liver are destroyed through this process, the more dramatic the situation is”, he said.
Most, since the first pills of paracetamol do not show effect, take another, and then another, hoping that a larger amount will help, and that can lead to stress and liver failure. Paracetamoli can also cause addiction over time.
“For a long time it was not known that paracetamoli operates on the brain and spinal cord, where the drug affects the system responsible for the control of”, said Müler-Schwefe.
At the same time, our body has its own sedatives. One of them is endorphins, somewhat like morphine, which the body produces alone and that can suppress pain in times of crisis. Paracetamoli operates by “blocking” pain receptors and thus reduces the sense of pain.
However, there are side effects that many fail to notice at first.
“reduces the ability to change mood. This means that the affected react neither positively nor negatively to the situation. Touches are completely isolated emotionally. But even some other characteristics are changing: willingness to take risks is increasing, to make decisions faster”, said Müller-Schwefe.
To deepen knowledge of the unknown effects of Paracetamol, numerous studies have been conducted in recent years, one at Ohio State University in 2020, which also concluded that paracetamoli can operate on the human conscience and change character traits.
The group of participants who regularly consumed paracetamol were brought much more dangerous and courageous but at the same time with far less sensitivity with insensitive and harsh reactions at the expense of others.
“just taking a pain drug or even prevention, before the sport, is complete absurdity”, Maüller-Schwefe concludes.
