Study: Disturbing the amount of plastic particles in baby bodies

Babies have 15 times more plastic particles in their bodies than adults do. This is the disturbing result of a study. Researchers believe that babies are consuming a lot of microplastics through chewing toys, or procrastination on carpets containing this substance.
Microplastics are small pieces of plastic smaller than five millimeters, the thickness of a coin, and are used in various industries, but can also be created when plastic objects break down.
The team examined plastic particles levels in feche samples in 10 adults and six babies in New York State, U.S.A.
In all samples they found at least one type of microplastic, but when comparing baby samples with adults, researchers found at least 15 times more.
Unfortunately, experts are still unclear what exactly the effects of these particles on human health are, but there is growing concern that they can be very harmful when swallowed.
The smaller parts are capable of crossing cell membranes and entering our organism, and this is disturbing because research into microplastics in laboratory animals has resulted in cell death, inflammation and metabolic disorders.
