US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasia, at the same time envoy for the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar, spoke to members of the US Congress's Foreign Affairs Committee regarding the US engagement in the Western Balkans.
In his address, Escobar said the US supports the EU-mediated dialogue and that Kosovo and Serbia should normalise relations through mutual recognition.
“The US supports dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, which is mediated by the EU that is the proper form for us to advance the negotiation process. We made it clear that dialogue is the form in which, the two sides as equal should work to solve problems and normalise relations ideally through mutual recognition”, Escobar said in his virtual address at the Assembly Foreign Affairs Committee hearing.
