He has made that known, CEC spokesman Valmir Elez. He has said that the requirement for the removal of a 48-hour curfew has been requested at the recent CEC meeting.
While speaking of this request, Elez hopes the government will approve this request.
The Central Election Commission is in the final phase of preparing the election process and with the aim of carrying out tasks during the voting process, about 150,000 members of the polling councils will be engaged, as well as about 25 thousand observers will be present at the polls to see the voting process closely. Therefore, to enable the performance of official tasks and being aware of restrictive measures, including limiting the movement from 10: 00 a.m. to 5: 00 a.m., the CEC has asked the Government of Kosovo to suspend the restrictions on movement for all Kosovo citizens on October 16th and 17th”.
The “during the last meeting that has been held in the CEC, unanimously members of the CEC have voiced confidence that the suspension of the movement during this weekend would serve to create a positive atmosphere for Kosovo citizens”, Elez said.
On the other hand, Elez has said that given that there are thousands of people engaged in this election process, leaving the curfew would be of great help to this process, as in his opinion, election troops may remain after 22: 00 p.m. at the resort.
The “certainly considering that we are dealing with thousands of people who will engage and have an active role in the electoral process, which most of them may be in places to look at the process of counting balloting that could go beyond the time when the restrictions on the movement of citizens start, then we believe this would help the CEC and election troops to carry out their official task”, Elez told EO.
