The Central Election Commission (KQZ) today has announced the final results of the first round of local elections for mayors, which were held on 17 October. During the announcement of the result, controversy arose between members of the CEC whether the results should be announced in the municipality of Elez's Khan and Ranilug.
According to the final result, 17 municipalities have been made with mayors in the first round, while another 21 go to the runoff on November 14th.

CEC members expressed their dilemmas regarding the announcement of the results of Elez's Khan municipality, for which the process is still in judicial conflict.
It was member Alym Rama who said it is not right to proceed with the approval of the outcome for this municipality.
I think that since the complaint is under way, we should not announce the results and decide the outcome. Nobody disputes the score, but it's a complaint. I am against voting the result until the legal deadline is passed”, he said.
But the other thought split Arian Elshani, who said that by this vote the way is opened to even asmblists, and if there is another complaint, he said it could change the outcome.
I think it's biased now, even at this meeting to stop this municipality from publishing final results, when maybe at 3 or 4 we could have all of these announced separately. I insist that this be inside, that any ruling the Supreme Court makes could remove this score”, Elshani said.
CEC Chairman Kreshnik Radoniqi said that according to a letter by the Supreme Court, the outcome of this municipality could be announced while it cannot be certified.
We have another letter from the Supreme Court who say the result of Elez's Khan cannot be certified. So, we're just making a statement today and we're not certified. We don't know if complaints will be made or not, we're assuming that they can be submitted, but we're not making the certificate. So I think we can make the announcement. This gives you access to 24 hours from the” declaration, Radoniqi said.
Sami Kurteshi of Vetevendosje also said he is not convinced that the outcome of Elez's Khan municipality should be announced or certified.
Kurteshi rejected announcing the final results for Ranilug, who was won by Katarina Ristic, with 100 per cent of the vote, for which he gave his reasons.
The “No matter that these are votes placed in the box, this is a sign of a pressure that has made a state, along with a party in a certain municipality of the Republic of Kosovo. There were counterCandids here, and by the very words of the citizens of Ranillug, this counterCandid has been forced to retreat by force”, Kurteoshi said.
To these statements, Gordana Laban Zuviq has reacted, who said Kurteshi has facts, then must present them to the Prosecutor.
Your Honor colleague, I don't agree with you, but if you have evidence that there was pressure, you shallow earlier, that anyone who throws the stone says to whom he threw the stone, you hand over the evidence and that's then investigated”, she said.
Meanwhile, the chief chief of the CEC Secretariat, Burim Ahmetaj, announced that the results of nine recounting positions have been submitted and included in the final outcome. According to him, the recount showed that there were only a few minor technical or human errors.
As the announcement of results for the municipal assembly accelerated, KEC member Florian Dashi requested.
