CEC spokesman Valmir Elezi has said that this figure is not final, since from time to time they accept applications from the diaspora.
A few hours ago, at 4: 00 p.m., we had a meeting like the CEC and the first figures in terms of the number of applications received from abroad were released to be registered as voters outside Kosovo. It's about 1500 emails we've accepted, and they'll be considered to know exactly the number of applications. This number changes from time to time for the fact that through email we constantly expect applications”, Elez said.
He said the purpose of the CEC's decision is to verify whether behind the application is a true applicant and not another person.
The process is more challenging because thousands of calls will have to be made to confirm. It's eight days”, he said.
Elez also indicated that the following days will organise an activity where they will look closely at the diaspora applicants' contact procedure for telephone verification, Klan Kosova reports.
” Tomorrow and the most distant day I am hoping that we organise an activity together with the media, to visit the CEC's voter service to look closely at the admission of applications from abroad and contact the applicants who will serve the transparency of the institution”, Elez added.
