Speaking to reporters, Dr. Mustafa Sait Gönnen, dean of the main Turkish Medical Faculty of Cerrahpaşa University in Istanbul, said: “Today, we started testing phase 3 of the Chinese-born vaccine from the Cerrahpaşa” medical school.
He said that out of 335 thousand patients who had visited the institution since March, 27 thousand had been treated for COVD-19 and 77 thousand had been tested.
“KNo, it's an important day for the Cerrahpaşa Medical School. This war (against the virus) continues in Cerrahpaşa, both in other hospitals and in the world”, He added.
And Baştürk also said: I volunteered by my own will. Of course, we want this virus that is creating trouble for Turkey and the world soon to be eliminated”.
The virus that first appeared in China last December has spread to almost all over the world, according to Johns Hopkins University in the United States.
Over 33 million people have been infected, including over 998 thousand deaths and some 23 million cures.
