The head of the Belgrade delegation in talks with Kosovo, Marko Djurovic, has said Thursday in Brussels that the Serbian side conditions progress in dialogue with the implementation of the agreement for the Association of Serbian municipalities in Kosovo.
Following the conclusion of talks between the two delegations, where financial claims between the two countries have been discussed, Djurovic said that a possible “summit in the future of the highest level between the two countries would depend on Pristina's readiness to work on implementing the Association Agreement”.
Dialogue between the parties in Brussels has been renewed on 16 July and is being mediated by the European Union. Kosovo Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti and Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, have met for the second time on 7 September.
In this case, according to statements on both sides, topics have been opened for the Association of Serb majority municipalities, for joint financial and property claims, already harmonised positions concerning the issue of the missing, displaced persons, and economic co-operation.
The topics they define are further discussed by expert teams of both countries.
Djuric said the Belgrade delegation during Thursday's talks has insisted that the topic of Association be like the first topic of conversation, but, according to him, such a thing was rejected by Pristina representatives.
Even the head of the Kosovo delegation, Skender Hyseni, said earlier that he has rejected opening talks on Association.
He said the parties have very opposed positions on the topic of financial claims, which is discussed Thursday.
The EU's special envoy for dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, who mediated Thursday's talks in Brussels, said through a post on the social Twitter network, that discussions on bilateral financial claims and property have confirmed the sensitivity of the issue. He said discussions will continue, but without specifying when the next date of the meeting will be.
