Tens of people have left the fire site through helicopters so far. The fire broke out at a location about 60 kilometers northeast of Fresno, the BBC writes.
The flames started Friday evening and the fire is spreading fast. So far more than two thousand hectares have been burned, local media report.
According to a statement by firemen in Fresno, 63 people have been rescued through the military helicopter and sent to an airport near the mountain where fire is spreading.
Authorities announced that the helicopter has gone back to the location of the fire to get the remaining people, but the exact number is not known.
This fire spread at a time when some regions of California are facing a record wave of high temperatures.
Governor Gavin Newsom on Friday declared the emergency after the warning of a blackout cause of a demand.
Over the weekend, California is expected to face temperatures that could reach 49 degrees. The National Weather Service announced that the heat will be more present especially in the southern part of this US state.
