Base gives shocking evidence of how Kosovars were treated in Albania: Besa Shahini did not escape our racism

Besa Sahini left today the position of the first education in Albania. After publishing the news, it drew attention with claims that it has felt discriminated against in the Albanian state. The reactions were many. Of them, journalist Mero Base gave shocking testimony to what was said about Kosovo citizens. Base says half [...]

Base says that in the first half of the years of the “90s in Albania there was anticosovarism as a kind of racism.

He tells the experience of a Kosovo friend who removed much to integrate into society there.

Since you Kosovars have come, we've been rescued, you're being reviled by <x1-cysophered shitbag””, he quotes his friend's landlord.

The Sahin according to him made no distinction, despite not finding fault at work.

For two years at the head of the Ministry of Education we didn't hear any of the Besa scandal. She never talked about stealing, tender, financial or professional scandal at work. She was appointed minister in the midst of a hot battle of students against the government, and tried to structure their demands, and to separate the student's real problems from political hysteria”, Base wrote.

It's probably true that Besa didn't make any attempt to become Albanian, to adapt to our mentality, to break the emphasis of “cosovasity” with the official rate, to become more popular on this side of the border, etc. But more than she wanted, we didn't. We saw him not a day, as a minister who could become ours, but as a gift of Edi Rama from Kosovo”.

And this is a major failure of our society after we have discouraged one of Edi Rama's most positive national initiatives to integrate two societies with one another”.

Mero Montenegro's complete writing:

When Edi Rama began promoting the appointment of Kosovo intellectuals to official positions in Albania, I have experienced a kind of anxiety, which comes from the 1990s, when Albania opened and together with the world, was recognising Kosovo.

In the first half of the 1990s in Tirana, there was a kind of anticosovarism, which in itself represented that hidden Albanian racism, which was sometimes disguised with ideology, once with politics and often trying to justify itself with the cultural and economic differences between the two countries.

A colleague of mine from Kosovo, at the time editor in the Renaissance, moved to Tirana after the newspaper's closure in Pristina and was searching for an apartment on the Myslym Shopi Street. I committed myself and I didn't find anyone, but as much as I mentioned that I loved him for someone from Kosovo, the price went up and doubted what was coming.

At last someone was found who offered him an abundant apartment with a warning price, some 250 marks from 350 that he could normally offer, especially for a <x0komovar”.

Sussed with the case, I ask my colleague what happened to this guy, who dropped the price.

- I don't know. I didn't even get it. He said if you're Kosovar you have 100 marks less. I'm a cham, and I've been swearing at my “cam shit” here in Tirana. Ever since you Kosovars came, we've been rescued, they're culling you <x2... Hallall, you got 100 marks.

That explained everything. The outgoing Muslim community of Greece has been scattered throughout Albania, and has also faced a kind of domestic racism, which has made them more isolated and has still forced them to work together as a group after 70 years as if they are not Albanians and must protect each other. They even have a party to manage to find any jobs in the administration for this reason.

Edi Rama's gesture, to appoint two key government ministers from Kosovo, has probably been the most emissary that an Albanian politician in the prime minister post has done after the 1990s in relation to Kosovo. Seeing as he did this with the intuition of a populist without knowing the ground, I was following this with the love of a social experiment.

It appeared that in the first term, he failed quietly with the deputy ministers he appointed. They came and saw and went away in silence. They didn't make it.

Edi Rama did not give up and thinking that they oppressed the arrogance and racism of his ministers, in the second term appointed the government's two most important ministers, Gent Calaj and Besa Sahin from Kosovo.

The first was faced with the official racism of Republika President Ilir Meta, who treated a 28-year-old boy from Kosovo as an international agent but especially as Belgrade agents. Racism and Ilir Meta's anticosvarism in that case overcame the evil of Albanian communists who arrested any Kosovars crossing the border as idealistics, calling them UDB agents.

Besa Sahin escaped Ilir Meta's racism, but not our racism.

For two years at the head of the Ministry of Education, we didn't hear any of Beth's scandal. She never talked about stealing, tender, financial or professional scandal at work. She was appointed minister in the midst of a hot battle of students against the government, and tried to structure their demands, and to separate the student's real problems from political hysteria.

On the other hand, it's true that I've heard a lot of angry Socialists that she hasn't given them a way to appointment in education, and she's probably not practical in combining educational policies with local government policies.

It is perhaps true that Besa did not make any effort to become Albanian of Albania, to adapt to our mentality, to break the emphasis of “kosovasrere” with the official rate, to become more popular on this side of the border, etc. But more than she wanted, we didn't. We saw him not a day, as a minister who could become ours, but as a gift of Eddie Rama from Kosovo.

And this is a major failure of our society, as we have discouraged one of Edi Rama's most positive national initiatives to integrate two societies with each other.

So far the only man who has come from Kosovo and eaten in Albania remains Lulzim Basha.

And that's not just us in Albania. The worst poison and wickedness against Edi Rama's two elections came from Kosovo. Do not forget Albin Kurtin, this “ideator” of the national union, which took the path from Pristina to Tirana and gathered students against Besa Sahin and Gent Cakaj, why ministers had become ministers in Albania and why Albania's first step of integration was being taken to the governing level.

A thousand blacks were invented for them, providing the shameless press of Tirana, which is also ready to black out everything from Kosovo that comes here, just as Kosovo press gets everything from Albania there.

I've never met Besa Sahin. I have no personal impression of her personality, or of how she acts as a citizen in Albania. But I just need to see this unbridled Albanian racism as a relief she left, to turn me into a nightmare of early 90 years, when I was working for Kosovo's birthplace, which was the first newspaper to be published as a 16-page day in Tirana and sold only 200 copies a day, while in Macedonia we sent 3 thousand copies.

And I ask a salesman one day in Tirana: But why don't they buy this paper? What do people say?

- Yeah, I'll tell you what, son,- he said. Good looks like a newspaper, but it's with Kosovo, they don't want it.
