Over 100 cancer patients, and COVID-19

Adelina (the real name of which is known for editing) is one of them, which, in addition to breast cancer diagnosed in January this year, has been infected with coronary in July.

She has continued the treatment of chemotherapy until she too has crossed the coronary.

I was operated on by breast cancer, since I was diagnosed with this disease. I started chemotherapy, which I've had a little bit of difficulty, normally. In July, however, symptoms began, which I thought were from chemotherapy. But no, I came up with a positive COVIDD”, relate Adelina to Radio Free Europe.

After consulting my doctor who treated me about the mountain disease, he told me what to use and he conveyed it to me. I was generally fine, but very tired. I've been through a lot of rest, and that's how I've been through it without any trouble, continuing cancer therapy”, she says.

Mikkael Sekeres, an expert on acute leukemia in the United States, in an interview given Radio Free Europe, has said that cancer - stricken individuals are not at greater risk of contracting the virus, but are in greater danger of becoming seriously ill if they contract the virus.

He has especially isolated patients who have a cancer - affected immune system or cancer treatment, for example, leukemia patients or lung cancer patients whose breathing may be heavy.

In Kosovo, hospitalised at the Infectious Clinic of the University Clinical Centre, there have been only five people who have had malignant diseases and who have resulted positive with COVID-19.

Others, COVIDD-19, have gone through with support therapy, along with the cancer therapy they have been dealing with.

Infectologist Sali Ahmeti made it known that patients who have had malignant diseases have also been treated for cancer and COVID-19.

“As far as cancerous, hospitals are concerned, there have been a total of five cases of serious cancer forms, such as lung contact, leukemia, but which have passed the disease without consequences. As far as COVIED-19 is concerned, they have achieved complete recovery after a normal disease performance. We used the same protocol as the other sick. But these people are with lower immunity, which we have had slightly stronger support therapy, which affects increasing their immunity”, Ahmeti said.

At the Oncological Institute of the University Clinical Centre in Kosovo, during this year's January-July period, 810 new cancer cases have been diagnosed.

Ilir Kurtishi, director of this institute, told Free Europe Radio that there is a decline in the number of malignant diseases, compared to the same period last year. He added that on data, 15 percent are less affected this year.

Meanwhile, from March, when the first cases of coronavirus were presented in Kosovo until May, there were only two people suffering from cancer, affected by COVID-19. Then, as Kurtish said, the number of infected has begun to rise, which has already reached about 120.

Everybody's healthy and no one's done fatally. Everyone has continued their treatment of cancer without a problem. Meanwhile, regarding malignant diseases in Kosovo, breast cancer leads to females as long as male lung cancer. The infection of cancer deaths is about 10 percent”, Kurtishi said.

In Kosovo, the total number of Coronavirus affected has reached 14,566.

The National Institute of Public Health announced on Saturday that within the past 24 hours three coronary patients have died, while 70 new positive cases have been confirmed.
