Obese people have 48 percent more likely to die from Coddy-19 than normal-weight people, according to research.
Scientists analyzed medical records, finding that being overweight also increases the risk of hospitalization by more than double (113 percent). People also had 74 per cent more predisposed to end up in intensive care if they had heavy weight, the study added.
Scientists said that excessive blood sugar and swelling in blood vessels, which are more common among overweight people, interfere with immune cells, making fighting infection impossible.
They're also more difficult to handle in intensive care because oxygen therapy fails as a high-weight treatment.
