There are several possible causes of Nocuuria. Now a group of Japanese scientists have found that reducing the amount of salt in a person's diet can reduce the excess feeling of going to the bathroom both during the day and when you sleep.
A group of researchers from Nagasaki University, led by Dr Matsuo Tomohiro, has studied salt intake in a group of 321 men and women who had high salt consumption and sleeping problems, Japanese people tend to have higher salt consumption.
Patients were given instructions and support to reduce salt consumption. They were followed for 12 weeks, and salt consumption is biochemically measured.
223 members of the group were able to reduce their salt intake from 10.7 gm a day to 8.0 gm a day. In this group, average urine frequencies during the night dropped from 2.3 times at night to 1.4 times.
This decrease in the need to go to the bathroom at night caused a notable improvement in the quality of the participants ' lives measured with the standard questionnaire CLS-QOL.
