Russia has named the first vaccine approved for COVID-19, “Sputnik V” for foreign markets, in reference to the world's first satellite and what Moscow sees as a success of becoming the first state to have approved a coronary vaccine, a senior Russian official has said, reports Reuters.
Kiril Dmitriev, head of independent state fund RDIF, it has said Russia has already accepted requests from more than 20 countries in the world for 1 billion doses of the newly registered vaccine for COVID-19.
He has spoken after Russia's President Vladimir Putin has announced approval of the vaccine, less than two months after testing people.
