Since March of this year, even when Pandemia Covid 19 began, it is believed that in Kosovo some 400,000 people have lost their jobs, and that if this trend continues, the number of those who lose their jobs due to the pandemic will increase to about 60 thousand.

So stated Kosovo priss, chairman of the Independent Kosovo Private Sector Union Yusuf Azemi, who said that the figure of 400,000 unemployed has been marked by the end of June, while by the end of September it could increase for another 20 thousand.

Azem said that in many cases there are only workers who are forced to quit because the salary does not cover their expenses.

By the end of June, we have about 400,000 workers who lost their jobs, and if this trend continues, we actually think that the end of September will be over 60 thousand workers who lost their jobs. Some form of workers are forced to even automatically release their job because wages are too low, and company owners find an expression that the thing has no work, and workers do not have the account if even their minimum expenses are not covered to go to work”, he said.

In the interview for KosovoPress, Azemi has said that a major role in the number of unemployed is also playing the poor working conditions in which it works.

He claimed that the rights of private sector workers in Kosovo are the most violated rights in the region, especially now at this time of pandemic.

“We have warned that even without any time pandemic, the rights of workers in the private sector in Kosovo, we can say they are the most violated rights in the region, and especially now at this time pandemic, some form maybe even has been overlooked because it's a very serious situation, and a situation that perhaps competent organs that have left the rankings of five or six, so very little are dealing with it. Although at this time we have the maximum number of employee rights violations, ranging from working schedules, paying jobs, lack of annual holiday, lack of medical holidays, and all”, Azemi said.

Azemi added that there has never been such a serious situation for Kosovo private sector workers.
