Haziri: There is no question as to the position of seeing state without any presidential changes

LDK Deputy Chairman Lutfi Haziri says the chair of the first state is discussed only if the indictment is confirmed to President Hashim Thaci.

The deputy chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lutfi Haziri, has stated that currently, they have not considered the issue of electing the president at all. According to him, this issue will only be considered if the indictment against President Thaci is confirmed by the Specialised Chambers, or in case of other developments.

As long as there's no change of situation in the President's Office, we have no attitude and we haven't talked to anyone about the matter. The LDK continues to have its role in government, and priorities are dialogue with Serbia”, Haziri stressed in a proposal for REL.

He added that if it is achieved to the situation, in which it is necessary to elect the new president, then the LDK will talk first with ruling coalition partners, but also with opposition parties, as well as civil society.

The issue of the election of the new president has recently sparked debate, following claims that he has filed to take this position the other partner in the ruling coalition, the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo and its leader Ramush Haradinaj.

LDK deputy chairman Haziri has stressed that the president's election -- if necessary -- should happen with agreement and cannot have exclusiveness from any party, but readiness to serve the country.

“As if in the AAK case, where Haradinaj has indicated readiness or in the case of any other party that he can offer tomorrow. This is a clear political issue I understand. But I don't think it's time for this stage to become a priority for the president of the country. This is what the LDK chairman ( Isa Mustafa) at the meeting has confirmed it as not only his position, but also the LDK's”, Haziri stressed.
