At the age of 116, the oldest man in the world in South Africa died.
Identification documents indicate that Fredie Blom from the eastern province of Cape was born in May 1904, yet this was never verified by the Guinness World Records.
He spent most of his life working. First on a farm and then in the construction industry, when he retired in his 80s.
His death was confirmed by a family member. Andre Naido told AFP said his grandfather was crying wood when suddenly he was dead, though, had added that he had always been strong and healthy.
His grandson said that death is not linked to COVID-19.
