Italy has decided to run rapid tests of the Coronavirus at the airport for all tourists returning from countries considered dangerous.
Experts are concerned by the number of new infections that continue to rise in recent days, especially among those returning from vacation to countries like Spain, Greece, Croatia and Malta. In addition, the average age of those who are sick, who are already under 40, has been greatly reduced. This means that they are mostly young, often assimitmatic or mild symptoms, those who cause the virus to circulate.
Meanwhile, neighbouring Greece has announced new measures aimed at halting the recent increase in infections. According to Greek authorities, now visitors from Spain, Belgium, Sweden, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic must show evidence that they have resulted negative in the Corleone test before entering the country. Authorities also decided to close bars and restaurants at top tourist destinations such as the islands of Crete, Santorini and Rhodes during the night, the TCh reports.
The country's minister of health said infections were rising dangerously. The country had registered a satisfactory performance in confronting the Coronavirus so far, and was considered even the safest tourist destination in Europe, but in recent days, the figures also returned to the increase.
Spain, one of the hot hearths of the pandemic, has also reported a significant increase in infection with over 1400 new cases in the past 24 hours. The country has also registered 73 victims of coronary since Friday - the largest increase per month.
