The Health Ministry in Afghanistan has estimated that about a third of the population, or 10 million people, are infected with coronarys.
Health Minister Ahmad Jawad Osmani has told reporters on August 5th that polls are based on tests conducted for antibodies to nearly 9,500 people across the state, with technical support from the World Health Organisation.
The survey estimates that some 31.5 percent of the population of 32 million people has been in contact with the virus, while the largest rate has been recorded in the Afghan capital, Kabul.
Afghanistan, which has poor health infrastructure and has been damaged by decades of war, is currently facing limited testing capacity.
Officially, this state has only 36,829 positive cases and 1,294 deaths on August 5th, though the actual figures are believed to be much larger.
A second wave of infection is occurring everywhere in the world, and we can't be the exception”, Osmani said.
“We will use this data to prepare ourselves better for the second potential wave”.
So far, more than 18 million people have been infected worldwide with the new choreography, originally reported in China late last year.
