A legislative vacuum that enabled Romanians affected by the Coronavirus to leave the hospital or not be treated at all has ended Tuesday after entering into force of a new law.
The Eastern European country has reported an increase in the number of cases with Covid-19 this month and has recorded a record of daily cases since the beginning of the spread in February, writes “Reuters”.
Until this month, the government through a string of decrees has managed to manage the situation through sending to hospitals of the infected and through house isolation of those who could have been exposed to the virus.
But on July 2nd, the Constitutional Court estimated that the state could not enforce quarantine or hospital stays through government decrees and that these measures could be taken only through one law. The new law comes into force Tuesday and covers this legislative vacuum.
From tomorrow we have a law, we can observe, we can isolate”, said Romanian Health Minister Nelu Tataru.
About 970 people infected with coronarys have been released from hospitals against medical advice between July 2nd-20th.
So far, Romania has recorded over 38,000 cases of coronary and more than two thousand deaths.
