Bruno Day, who was only 17 years old when he joined the Stutthof concentration camp as a guard, was given a parole sentence of two years by a court in Hamburg this morning.
The state prosecutor had demanded a three-year parole sentence, while the defence had demanded complete justification, writes The Guardian, translates Periscope.
“The Stutthof concentration camp and the mass killings done there could only happen with your help,” Judge Anne Meier-Gering said in her verdict.
The anti-Dey process, which began in October, was continued despite the Comid-19 pandemic.
Between August 1944 and April 1945, Day was found to have helped kill 5232 people, although most Jews had never personally shot anyone. /Periscope
