In images published by local media, the lifeless bodies loaded in a truck and others lying on blood - laden streets are seen.
Another person was found dead later on Friday. Officials said his death is linked to the clash that occurred in the morning hours.
According to local media, people killed are believed to be members of the Northeast Cartel, a regional gang that remains of the former group Zetas.
The army has not indicated whether any of its members were injured or killed during these fighting.
The murders in Mexico marked a new record last year and it seems that this record will change again this year.
