KEDS is continuing to invest heavily in Podujevo. Only this year have nearly 2m euros been earmarked, with 66 projects being implemented, where close to 10,000 citizens will benefit. More than 200,000 metres of cables will be extended in the low - tension network and replaced near 900 old pillars with new concrete pillars.
Through these investments, Podujevo is becoming a long-term solution to the power grid. In this municipality, through modernisation of the network consumers will receive quality and secure electricity services. Along with them, the threat is being completely removed from old pillars, as in some locations the network is being deployed underground and in other areas they are being replaced completely with new pillars.
With these investments, citizens of this municipality are being very pleased. Gazmend Lepaja, owner of a business in Podujevo Square, said the investments she is making to KEDS are giving new sights to the town of Podujevo. The power grid for over 40 years has been ugly from the twisted wooden pillars placed in every corner. We're very happy with the work they're doing.
In the past we've had many problems with electricity supply. Enough of seeing these old pillars that have been here for over 40 years.”, Lepa says.
So says Agim Hyseni, about 50. I never thought the day would come. We have a problem with tension in Podujevo. Only when we got powered. Now it's not happening. It improved greatly in comparison. Of course, we are also satisfied with these investments that are becoming”, Hyseni added.
KEDS has invested in many projects in Podujevo over the past few years. Even in 2019
KEDS had implemented the biggest investment in the history of Podujevo electrification within a single year, investing around 6.5m euros in the low- and medium-level tension network, from which more quality services over 7,500 households directly benefited.
