The number of people who lost their lives in floods and landslides in the Kyushu region in southwest Japan has increased to 63.
The Koyodo news agency reported that 92 streams and rivers in 10 different regions, including the Kyushu region, have come out of bed. Water floods have caused several bridges, trees, roads, and flooding of thousands of homes, reports TCh.
It is known to have increased to 63 the number of people who lost their lives due to floods and landslides in the Kumamoto area north of Kyushu. The Agency for Fire Management and Disasters (FDMA) said it has been called for evacuation of 1.3 million people living in Kyushu.
Meanwhile, Japan's Meteorological Agency (JMA) warned that the rains in the region would continue and that necessary measures should be taken.
