Albania has been chosen for the role of Deputy President for the 75th session of the General Assembly at the United Nations Organisation (OKB).
Albania's ambassador to the UN, Besiana Kadare, who is the daughter of writer Ismail Kadare.
The news was delivered by Ambassador Kadare herself through a social networking post. I am proud to announce that Albania has been elected Vice President of the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly!
It is a special honor to serve as the Vice President of this historic session, and I look forward to working with Ambassador Volkan Bozkir, the newly elected president of the General Assembly from Turkey.
This is a great privilege and extraordinary responsibility to serve my country in this important position, with great attention in the international arena.
Each regional group at the UN is represented by a Vice President at the General Assembly. Albania will represent the Eastern European Group (EEG members), including the Balkans, Eastern Europe, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, etc.”, writes Kadare.
The annual session held in September will not this time bring leaders from around the world, as has the tradition of recent decades. That's because of the coronary crisis.
