The American Senate's Committee on Armed Services has published on their official page a 2021 fiscal year file, a document that mentions dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, and the final agreement between two states, Russia's efforts to destabilise the Western Balkan region, and also for support that the US must give the Kosovo Security Force.

The document says the Committee for Armed Services believes the United States of America should continue its support for Kosovo and Serbia towards a historic agreement, which will have mutual recognition as a key element.

The “Committee believes the US must continue to support the diplomatic efforts of Kosovo and Serbia to reach a historic agreement to normalise reports with mutual recognition as the central element. Such an agreement is in the interest of both states and will boost security and stability in the Western Balkans”, the document says.

This report says the US Senate should continue to support the gradual transition of the Kosovo Security Force to a multiethnic army that interacts with NATO members through a transparent process that respects and all the rights of all Kosovo citizens and promotes regional security and stability, reports the Express.

It is also called for American soldiers to continue staying within KFOR, since according to the Committee for Armed Services, this is vital to the success and credibility of the KFOR mission in Kosovo. It is also estimated that KFOR's role for regional stability is also essential for the success of Kosovo and Serbia's efforts to normalise reports.

The “Committee estimates that KFOR continues to play an irreplaceable role in the security and stability of the region, which is essential to the success of Kosovo and Serbia's efforts to nominalise reports. The participation of the US Armed Forces for KFOR is fundamental to the success and reliability of KFOR's” mission, the report provided by the Express newspaper points.

“Set out, the committee believes the US should continue supporting the Kosovo Security Force towards a gradual transformation towards a multiethnic army of the Republic of Kosovo that interacts with NATO members through a transparent process and respecting the rights and all the concerns of all Kosovo citizens, promotes regional stability and security, and supports Kosovo's aspirations for full membership in NATO”.

It is also said that the US should support Kosovo's aspirations for full NATO membership.

Russian influence in the Western Balkans region has also been mentioned in this report. As it is written in the file, Russia has made efforts to exacerbate reports between Kosovo and Serbia, undermining Bosnia and Herzegovina's stability by supporting extremist groups.

In addition, Russia reportedly is responsible for the coup in Montenegro and also for efforts to prevent Northern Macedonia's NATO membership.

As a result, the Committee has invited the Secretary of Defence to report no further than October 30th 2020 for US aims to promote security and co-operation with Balkan countries to also reduce their dependence on Russian armed systems. /GazetaExpress/
