Pristina Mayor Shpend Ahmeti has proposed five measures following the new situation created with the coronary pandemic in Kosovo.
On the day that 214 new cases were recorded, the record days, Ahmeti said that the municipality he led would operate in certain ways, but has demanded that their requests be addressed, broadcast news.
So far, 4100 cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in Kosovo, with Pristina being the first with 1143 cases at the level of municipalities.
Ahmeti in a Facebook post has written that the country is still without a strategy that would provide security to citizens. The first point of the proposals, he has listed the application for more tests.
And the only state that has blocked the import of tests from private labs. Other countries fight for tests because of their absence and we reject them. The PCR test with the strip does it alone. I KSHP while serological tests are not yet done to the extent needed. While other countries have done prevalence research (as people are behind the virus) we have no idea but the positives confirmed in the IKSHP. The number of active cases is not accurate, and the percentage you're taking (50 percent of the tested are positive) have no scientific value”, Ahmeti said, adding that the Pristina Community has ordered over 10,000 serial tests.
He has warned that from this week, 150 tests per day can be started on “to understand how infected they are in our municipality and so can many other facts”. He stressed that after two weeks the capacity could increase to 400 tests per day.
The Pristina municipality's second proposal is listed “decentralisation of the battle”.
The main goal from the beginning has been to slow the spread to cope with our health system. 200 laying and facing 1200 not. In addition to this, we have centralized the hospital at CKUK, focusing the burden on a group of health personnel. To cope with the new numbers, we must decentralise the battle. From the beginning we have outlined scenarios. This has not been done and now we are in a panic like Kosovo. Now, I need to prepare every institution of the region's hospitals, primary health to re-organize to create Covid Centres for treatment of light complications, while KKUK has to deal with the most serious cases”, the capital's first said.
Ahmeti has added that the preventative should focus on endangered groups, pointing to the elderly and people with accompanying diseases.
“For those citizens who have no care should be organized groups of volunteers to help you with supplies to avoid contacts. Those with accompanying diseases should be preserved even more”, he proposed.
Ahmeti has said he has to increase care for closed spaces and discuss with institutions and businesses.
“needs a time to slow the virus down without closing again. Some institutions will be shut down, and some simply demand understanding and solidarity. We all have to do our job. Decisions are futile if we are not responsible for ourselves. When they're saying that there's people with viruses going out on the streets, I can't believe someone can be irresponsible enough to risk someone's life”, he said of the fourth proposal.
At fifth point, Ahmeti has said the war would be lost if there were numerous fatalities or economic crisis. This is where he blamed political parties for not being united.
The war can be lost by the virus if we have multiple fatalities (up to 1600 according to the worst scenario) or by the economic crisis if economic activity is further curtailed and visible. But we will chapter entirely if political parties continue in recent months. Handshakes for numbers infected because of party warfare or economic aid to strengthen the chair are unforgivable acts. You'll be left in the neck of the suffering of this people caused completely unnecessary”, he wrote, ending up with “War is still not lost but requires strategy, will, solidarity and accountability”.
Of the 41,000 cases with COVID-19 in Kosovo, 86 people have died. There are 2063 and 1951 active cases.
After the increase in cases, from the beginning of the week in the capital has been limited the movement of citizens from 9:00 to 0500.
