The renowned German expert for the Balkans, Bodo Weber, said that by the end of the year Kosovo and Serbia may be closer to a final agreement.
Weber added if we compare Washington's pre-lined meeting, expected to be held on 27 June, with previous negotiations the next round of talks is even more difficult.
In an interview for KosovoPress, Weber says there is no clear agenda for the June 27th meeting in Washington. It refers to Greene's statements saying it will be meeting the economy character, while Thaci warns a possible final agreement, while the Government of Kosovo is unaware of what will happen only because it has prepared a platform.
“ If we compare this meeting to previous negotiations, which were wrongly led and completely nontransparent, by then-EU chief negotiator Federika Moghrini, this next round of talks is even more difficult. In the process of the negotiations of Mrs. Moghrin at least we knew the outcome of negotiations on a final, comprehensive agreement”.
” And a year later we heard about the secret agenda of three negotiators exchange territories. For the June 27th meeting we basically don't know anything, starting with the contradictory statements of Greenell and President Thaci for the agenda an agreement in the economic sphere or a comprehensive deal. At the same time, Kosovo government officials insist that we have a negotiating platform with clear principles and red lines, but at the same time insist that they do not know what will be discussed at the White House, but have agreed to participate in such negotiations”, he said.
