“Favipiraver” has been developed in co-operation between the Ministry of Technology and Industry, the Ministry of Health, Turkey's Scientific and Technological Research Council (TUBITAK), Medipol University in Istanbul and the pharmaceutical company “Atalay Ilac”.
The team of 32 scientists has developed the drug, synthesizing it with a first local subject in just 40 days.
Synthetic “Favipiraver” is one of the projects launched under the Turkish Platform Covid-19, where research and development works have been carried out in connection with the development of medicines and vaccines. Mustafa Güzel, one of the project's co-ordinators, said the domestic drug development project has been implemented in industry and academy co-operation. The team started working about 5-6 weeks ago, Güzel said.

He pointed out that treatment with the synthetic Favipiravity is effective even in patients who have just begun to have a fever.
There are 3-4 drugs in the world that are well-known in treatment. This is a drug that we know is effective”, Güzel concluded.
Russia, meanwhile, announced on Friday that it has begun using Favipipiravri, making 60 thousand doses available and warned of the ordering of another 2 million doses.
