“We are closing an important chapter,” said Minister Paulo Proano, adding that 25 turtles including the famous Diego “were returning from after decades of reproduction that managed to save their species from extinction”, writes The Guardian, translate Periscope.

Before being placed on a boat bound for Espanjola, 100 - year - old Diego and other turtles had to submit to a quarantinen period to avoid carrying worms that are not present on the island mentioned above.
Diego weighs about 50 pounds [80 kg] and is about 20 inches [90 cm] wide and five feet [1.5 m] long.
Diego is “babai” of 50 percent of the turtle population after having had long-term non-stop sex saving the species from extinction.
