She is the first politician of Albanian descent elected to a municipal assembly and then even a cantonal parliament in Switzerland. By 2011 she has been a deputy in the Parliament of the Lucern Canton, and in 2007 she was elected as an adviser at the City of Lucen Assembly.
With this experience in politics, Ylfete Fanay is a prominent name in its canton policy and wider.
