The early results of a new study carried out by the genetic testing giant “23and me” show that blood type affects coronavirus sensitivity. Those with blood type 0 seem less endangered.
The preliminary data from the study which is still under way and includes 750,000 people show that 9.8% of people with blood type 0 are less predisposed than those with other blood groups to have tested positive for the disease.
This study revealed that there are differences between blood types that affect sensitivity rather than the severity of the disease.
A European study published last week also found that type 0 is linked to a lower risk of coronary and blood patients A have 50% more likely to need oxygen or to require a fan.
The feasibility study of “23and Me”, which was launched in April and is still recruiting additional participants DNA in the ABO gene, which affects the blood type, is associated with a lower risk to COVID-19.
