This symptom was not noted in previous studies, certainly because other symptoms such as cough, fever and breathing difficulties were much more pronounced,” said Muhamed Aziz from the American University of Toledo.
The research team analyzed data from five previously published studies, which were conducted from January to late March of this year.
Of the 817 people infected with COVID-19 who were included in the study, 49.8 percent felt the difference in taste change.
Experts assume that this percentage could be even higher as some research was based on patients who did not notice any symptoms of the virus.
Changes in this sense are alleged to occur in people with milder symptoms
