EU Special Emissar for Kosovo Dialogue Miroslav Lajcak has spoken after his meeting with Kosovo Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti and the country's deputy ministers.
He says the meeting was very productive and says he is happy that Kosovo's dialogue -- Serbia mediated by the EU -- is a priority of the government.
Lajcak has also said he has presented Hoti with EU expectations from the dialogue and also that he has invited him to visit Brussels.
“We had a very productive meeting with the prime minister and deputy ministers, I announced with my plan how to proceed with the dialogue and key elements that I have mentioned, but I certainly respect the constitutional order of the government in dialogue and the EU-mediated dialogue is one of the priorities of the Kosovo government. I told the prime minister of our expectations and I invited the prime minister to visit Brussels and then he will meet all the relevant politicians of political parties in Kosovo and tell them more details about what we expect from this dialogue.”, Lajcak said.
Lajcak also says he has reached a moment when the EU-brokered dialogue marks success as it enters the 10th year.
He finally said Kosovo's EU path moves towards normalising relations with Serbia and says the agreement between the two countries can only be made by the European Union.
The “is a good opportunity to mark even one step in when the EU-mediated dialogue is entering the 10th year, is dialogue under the UN resolution, and this dialogue has yielded concrete results for the people of Kosovo, and without EU mediation it would not be possible and we are trying to put the process into a successful conclusion. Kosovo's path to the EU moves towards normalising relations with Serbia. I want Kosovo to advance to this point and it cannot be done by anyone other than the European Union”, Lajcak said at the end.
