What will Kosovo and what Serbia do at Washington meeting

US President Donald Trump's emissary for Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Richard Green, has reignited engines to bring the parties back to the negotiating table. He has received confirmation from governments in Pristina and Belgrade that he will respond to the invitation for a meeting in Washington on 27 June. To leave room for negotiations, according to Yerenelli, Serbia will [...]
Big start. I have taken a pledge from the governments of Kosovo and Serbia to temporarily pause the non-recognition campaign and the application for international membership in order to meet in Washington, the White House, on June 27th, to talk about the dialogue”, Greenell wrote on Twitter.
Earlier this year, Yerell had invited to the White House presidents Thaci and Vuciq, but not government representatives. In Kosovo, the prime minister was Albin Kurti, whom he dismissed with the motion initiated by the Democratic League, with the reason that he put reciprocity contrary to American demands.
But Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, had not sufficed to lift reciprocity by conditioning the ban on the campaign against Kosovo citizenship by giving up Pristina's offensive to membership in international organisations.
Grenelli, but even the Thaci-Wucciq presidents have so far denied any draft agreements between the parties to be discussed.
Following Greenell's tweet, an immediate reaction was that of Thaci, who has said he welcomes the invitation of the American minister.
The chairmanship of major political processes from the United States of America has always been determining for the Republic of Kosovo and its people. As president of the Republic of Kosovo, I welcome the invitation to resume the process of dialogue on normalising relations between Kosovo and Serbia under the leadership of United States President Donald Trump, as well as his special envoy, Ambassador Richard Greene”, he wrote.
Former US ambassador to Germany was activated the day before the European Union's emissary's visit to the same issue, Miroslav Lajcak, who will also try to establish dialogue modalities.
