Health Ministry spokesman Faik Hoti announced to Radio Free Europe that they are prepared for the clinical management of coronary.

He says that they are constantly being equipped with the necessities required for treatment of this virus.

After increasing the number of cases with COVID-19 and health infrastructure at the Infective Clinic has begun to be loaded. The clinic has 125 beds available, while in order to confront the eventual flow of COVID-19 cases, the Pulmology Clinic, Dermatology Clinic, and the Institute of Sports Medicine, which has oxygen therapy rooms with new beds, will be returned to function. All these capacities cause some 300 beds for new cases with COVID-19”, says Hoti.

The number of beds, Hoti adds, can grow to 500 soosh, counting here on beds at Prizren's General Hospital, the hospital, which has also been treated with coronary cases.

As for the number of respirators, Hoti says the health system in Kosovo has 162 respiratories, 95 are in the public sector, 47 in the private health sector, which can serve the needs of the public sector in case of an inflow of coronary infected.

Also this week, Hoti shows that he has accepted 20 other respirators from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Kosovo, and others are expected to arrive this week.

The number of hospital patients increased by COVID-19

The number of cases with COVID-19 has marked increases during the last days in Kosovo. Within three days, there have been 231 new coronavirus cases, including the number of hospitalized patients.

Until in the past weeks, the number of hospitals reached more than 20 on June 15th, the number of hospitalised patients at the Infectious Clinic has been 43.

Since March 13th, where the first Coronavirus cases in Kosovo appeared, 1,615 cases have so far been recorded. Of them, 963 persons have recovered, while 33 patients have died.

Increasing the number of cases has raised concern in Kosovo. Authorities have warned the return of isolation measures if citizens fail to comply with health experts' recommendations.

Poor Health Sector
The public health sector in Kosovo has suffered for years from lack of medical equipment for work.

Kosovo at the beginning of the pandemic had faced the lack of many equipment needed for handling cases with COVID-19.

Various international organisations donated Kosovo donations during the period of confronting COVID-19. The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) had helped Kosovo with 36,200 gloves, 33,600 surgical masks and thousands of other medical protection devices.

International loan for confronting COVID-19
At the government's meeting on June 15th, Finance and Transfers Minister Hykmete Bajrami has indicated that negotiations about the international agreement with the World Bank have been successfully concluded.

The 46m-euro deal, according to Bajrami, with part of those funds, will serve as public health assistance in Kosovo.

The project will help the health sector with medical equipment, which has been necessary for a long time, but in this epidemiological situation, more is needed to deal with pandemic. The credit in the health share will cover the expansion of the Infectious Clinic, training of medical staff and preparing them for the fastest detection of”, Bajrami said.
