From a recent study, the coronavirus is found in testicles and sperm. The presence of pathogen in sperm can cause an inflammatory state on vascular base “which causes the same symptoms as orkit”, writes the Italian Urology Association
The orc is an inflammation of testicles that are usually linked to the scythe virus characterized by pain and swelling of testicles. Experts say these conditions can also be observed in part of patients with COVID-19, who also have scrotum fryings. This situation, in the long term, can create conditions for hypogonadism that affect testosterone production, notes SIU.
The hormonal change seems to be related to the high concentration of propactin in the blood, which in turn may have consequences for sexual desire.
SIU says there are currently only preliminary data, as investigations are still under way and the number of patients involved is still limited.
So far there are few investigations conducted and few samples of patients to ascertain the presence of the virus in the seminal fluid. Results received so far are also contradictory. Currently available data does not have an objective scientific validity, “ Professor Roberto Scarpa, president of the Italian Urology Association, said.
