Germany's ambassador to Kosovo, Christian Heldt, has recalled NATO troops' entry into Kosovo 21 years ago. He has said the German state's support for Kosovo has been for a state where the law rules and for a democratic state, and not as the “gift for some”.
Heldt, in a post in Titter, has said this day should serve as a reminder of the victims but also of the state's future obligations.
On this day, 21 years ago, NATO ended a terrible conflict. Thankful for the more than 50,000 German soldiers who have served here so far. I bow before all the victims. They remind us of what has been accomplished since then but also of what must be fulfilled. We have stood and stand for a democratic, multi-ethnic state, independent rule of law, uncorrupted public services for all citizens, free economy, policies that serve the state and people, independent media critical, elementary freedoms and not a gift to some”, Heldt wrote in his post at Titter.
