Turkey will develop and produce the local Favipiravri, a drug used in treating COVID-19, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday.

According to the Daily Sabah, the Turkish scientists were able to synthesize the drug component and it will be available for treatment of coronavirus after the registration process is completed, Erdogan said after the first face-to-face cabinet meeting in three months.

While according to the Anadolu Agency, the Turkish president has declared that Turkish scientists are successfully producing the Favipiravervirvi medicine used to treat the new coronavrus (COVID-19).

But according to the Daily Sabah, based on early test results, Japan's flu drug, Favipiraver (also known as Avigan), has shown to be effective in reducing the duration of the new coronavirus to patients and improving their lung condition.

According to the Health Ministry, China-led Favipiraver is being used under a unique protocol in Turkey.

Unlike Chinese doctors, Turkish doctors have found that early intuition extends the length of the disease as high-flowing oxygen delivery leads to more successful and faster treatment.

Erdogan also announced a further easing of several restrictions imposed to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Marriage registration Halls will reopen on 15 June, followed by wedding halls on 1 July. Meanwhile, businesses such as cinemas, theatres and exhibition centres will be allowed to reopen on July 1st, under rules set by the government.

Citizens over the age of 65 will be allowed out between 10am and 8 pm. Every day, while those under 18 years of age will be able to hang out with their parents at any time.

People over 65 years of age and minors had been banned from leaving their homes in addition to certain days of the week.

Turkey began its normalisation process earlier this month, gradually removing a number of social restrictions.

Meanwhile, the country recorded 933 new cases of death of COVID-19 and 18 in the past 24 hours, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said on Tuesday.

With this recent update, the death toll in Turkey from coronavirus rose to 4,729, while the total number of cases of COVID-19 reached 172,114. /
