Infectious Clinic capacity at QKUK is almost full.
The situation at the Infectious Clinic in Pristina is extremely heavy and the clinic's capacities are almost packed, infected with the Kosovo University Clinical Centre, Valbon Krasniqi, told Radio Free Europe.
According to him, there are 109 people in the CKUK clinics until Sunday evening, and some are extended to the OVID-19 positive patients at the Infectious Clinic, 109 people, in Pulmology 10, and some are also in the intensive ward at the Sports Medicine Center.
Their health situation is extremely serious, we have over 50 patients who are in oxygen therapy, and six are in intensive care. Most of them are advanced in age and with preliminary diseases, but we also have younger ages”, Krasniqi said.
Kosovo currently has 1,203 active cases, while the death toll from the Coronavirus is 49.
The number of laid down at the Infectious Clinic has begun to rise since the beginning of June, when the third phase of the relief of anti - coronary measures has begun.
On May 26, the Infectious Clinic was 10 cases, and on Sunday evening 109. In the last 10 days in Kosovo, 844 new cases have been recorded. The last few days have occurred that up to 46% of tested in 24 hours have proved positive in COVID19.
The fact that we have large percentages of positive cases in relation to the overall number of tests speaks of a mass spread of the”, Krasniqi says.
Kosovo Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti warned on Sunday that if the rate of increasing cases with COVID-19 continues, “will be forced to return total isolation measures, which will have serious consequences for our economy and our families”.
On the other hand, Parliament Speaker Vjosa Osmani has stated that the <x0 significant achievement requires the government's urgent attention and everyone's dedication in respecting guidelines”.
The idea that no virus is damaging the situation
Infectian Krasniqi, says three factors are contributing to the increase in the large number of cases, and they are: the permanent release of citizens from the stock measures, the failure to implement recommended measures, and the “ide that is being circulated among people that have no virus”.
This is greatly damaging the situation, because it seems that citizens are beginning to believe more in conspiracy theories than in the reality in which we are living”, Krasniqi says.
Kosovo's National Public Health Institute has repeatedly called for physical distance to be respected, masks used, and hands cleaned.
recommended measures must be made mandatory
Krasniqi thinks that it is not sufficient to recommend these measures, but they must be binding. He added that the government must find mechanisms to force citizens to implement them.
Another measure that should also be implemented correctly is the rigorous monitoring or control of COVID-positive patients, which are in the house, not to allow their circulation and movement”, Krasniqi said.
He added that another phenomenon that has been observed in the Infectious Clinic is that family members are attempting to visit patients, family members who have them lying here in the clinic, which <x0); most of them are self-positive COVIDs.
“Normically, we cannot allow their access to the clinic, but being COVID-positive they risk spreading the virus further”, Krasniqi said.
Otherwise, Health Minister Armend Zemaj stated the previous day that those who are not respecting safeguard clauses should be punished, not specifying how this punishment will happen.
Health Ministry: Enough Tests
In recent days, Kosovo has conducted between 200 and 300 tests every 24 hours.
Health Ministry spokesman Faik Hoti told Radio Free Europe that Kosovo has sufficient tests for COVID-19, unwilling to declare the number. He added that Kosovo currently tests close contact with symptoms.
According to him, all hospitalised cases at the Infectious Clinic and other units where patients with COVID-19 are, health personnel with signs and symptoms of infection, close contact with the positive person with signs and symptoms, older people and chronically ill. Asimtomatics are directed into 14 - day proselytization, as well as self - monitoring of health.
Hoti on June 14th declared for REL that the National Public Health Institute in Kosovo has about 10,000 tests available for COVID-19. Meanwhile, the Health Ministry has accepted 6500 tests from the organisation “Qate Charity”.
