On Wednesday 21 years were made by the killing of professor and activities Fehmi Agani, who was among the founders of the LDK and the close associate of the late President Ibrahim Rugova.
Adnan Merovci, who has stood by the first president of Kosovo in difficult times, points to the moment, which he described as the most difficult one.
According to him, the May 6th 1999, when Serbian forces executed Professor Fehmi Agani was the most difficult moment, especially after he was commissioned to communicate the news to Rugova.
Recalling that moment, Merovci says the former president's first reaction has been “cúm has broken the arm” to show the importance Agan had in Rugova's life.
The saddest moment I am explaining is the case on May 6, 1999, when we had only traveled from that kidnapping when Serbs had executed Professor Fehmi Agan and Italians who had understood this information could not communicate Rugova and charged me with saying. On that occasion he was waiting on a plane to visit Rome. I tell the mayor, but I want to say something... He expected something unpleasant from the way he reacted. I said you told us that in the biggest mess a man shouldn't lose his head because he needs to keep working. Are you talking to what happened? Much more nervous, I said, Professor Agan has passed away and Serbs have killed him. Even when I confess, I am extremely moved. He had a facer and as never before because he had even more painful death. He told me he broke my arm, that's President Rugova's authentic word”, he told Kosovas.
In contrast, Fehmi Agani, one of the founders and leaders of the Democratic League, was killed near Lipjani by Serbs in uniformed and armed uniforms. On May 6, 1999, Agan, along with his family, tried to leave Kosovo by train.
On the border with Macedonia, the train was brought back. Somewhere near Fushe Kosovo, police stopped the train and ordered everyone to land. Various evidence published in the press says Agan was taken either on a bus along with other Albanian men, or alone with policemen inside a private car. His corpse was found the next day on a muddy road near Lipjan.
