According to him, this day serves to once again confirm the European values of freedom, democracy, peace and diversity and to counter voices that sow divisions, intolerance, hate speech and isolation from Western partners.

75 years ago, on May 9, 1945, mankind's bloodiest fight against Naziism ended. This date marks the triumph against the obcurantism of the fascist totalitarian ideology, which had captured much of the world and therefore serves as a holiday for freedom.
May 9th is also known as Europe's Day because it is the date when the first step towards creating what is now the European Union. On May 9, 1949, France's Foreign Minister Robert Schuman read to the international press a statement urging France, Germany, and other European countries to unify coal and steel production. Therefore, this day, which is officially marked in Kosovo as well, recalls the birth of united Europe as and symbolizes peace and friendship among the countries of the continent.
This day serves us to confirm once again the European values of freedom, democracy, peace and diversity and to counter voices that sow divisions, intolerance, hate speech and isolation from Western partners. We all have to continue and intensify integration reforms so as to get the place that belongs to us in the European family. Kosovo has European standards institutions, our people have European culture, so I wish for an acceleration of Kosovo's EU integration process, as well as for faster visa liberalisation for our citizens!
