President Trump signs executive order for social media companies
Accelerationing his fight with social media companies President Donald Trump signed an executive order Thursday challenging protection of the legal obligations these companies have for materials posted by their users.
However, the move appears to have more to do with politics than the substance, as the president seeks to gather his supporters after he attacked Twitter for applying the concept of fact control in two of his posts.
President Trump said the fact checks were “editorial decisions” from Titter and concerned political activism.
He said this move would cost social media companies protection from indictments for those posted on their platforms.
Trump, who personally relies heavily on Titter to attack his enemies, has long accused technology giants at Silicon Valley who lean on liberals, that they are targeting conservatives by controlling or removing their posts.
