Albania's government in co-operation with Tirana's Basescu in an unprecedented act, has collapsed the historic building of the Albanian National Theatre earlier this morning. The gangstersk event has been associated with violence against artists and activists who have been defending the theatre for almost three years now.
Dozens of activists and artists have been arrested and sent to police stations in the early hours of the morning, including journalists. In March 2020, the Tirana National Theatre building was listed among the seven most endangered objects in Europe from Europe, Nostra, one of the largest cultural heritage conservation organisations in Europe.
The Alliance for Theatre Protection has called protest in Tirana today, and hundreds of citizens have already gathered in the area around the Theatre.
In a sign of solidarity with their nearly three-year effort, today at five o'clock before the Kosovo National Theatre all those affected by this event will gather to express their indignation in relation to the theatre's collapse in Albania.
We invite all those/o who share the same beliefs to join us today in front of the Kosovo National Theatre, respecting I recommendations. KSHPK and Health Ministry decisions on preventing the spread of COVID 19 Please be equipped with gloves masks and keep the distance of at least 2m from other participants/a in the symbolic action.
